Where I stayed
Inside the terminal, we found some seats and settled in for the wait until we could check-in for our 3am flight. Shortly after midnight we joined the surprisingly long line only to groan in dismay as they changed the scheduled departure time to 5:30am….this was beginning to feel a little like Delhi all over again, although the environment was vastly improved
Despite the delay, once on board our Kenya Airlines flight, all was good; in-seat entertainment systems, good food, a fairly smooth flight and spare seats such that we had six seats between the four of us and the kids were able to lay down and sleep properly. Another airline makes the “recommended” list and we’re encouraged that our flight out of Kenya will also be with them.
There was no trouble getting our visas (only $25/adult and no visa for kids) and we were soon through the airport and looking for our ride who, it turns out, had been waiting for us for three hours as she didn’t know that the flight was delayed. Our brief stop in Nairobi was at the Wildebeest Camp where we’d booked one of their luxury tents; a large permanent tent with a double bed and two singles and an en-suite bathroom
After a quick breakfast, we’ll be leaving Wildebeest Camp to catch our shuttle bus across the border to Arusha, Tanzania. But that's not all for Nairobi - we're expecting to return for a few days in a couple of weeks time. For now, hopefully it’ll be a good journey to Tanzania without any complications at the border….
