We had an overnight stop in Wanaka - a mini eco-version of Queenstown with an excellent adult play area called Puzzling World.
Its full of optical illusions and brain teasers like the sloping room which affects your balance, and the hall of following faces. Its topped off by a 3D maze. We managed to spend a few hours there before heading off towards the west coast. En route to Haast we spotted - in the middle of nowhere - a Scenic flights company. We decided that we hadnt spent enough money on activities lately (!) so what the hell, we signed ourselves up. The weather had taken a turn for the worse and the cloud came down, but we managed to get a good look at the surrounding mountains from a differnet angle. It was all spectacular (I need a new word!). The rain had started waterfalls and the wind blowing the little cessna around gave us both airsickness! Thankfully we were back on the ground before it could well and truly set in! It was an excellent wat to spend an hour!
