One thing that is inescapable when driving the Mexican Yucatan is the endless varieties of the color green. Upon an arrival in San Pedro, it is evident that what the jungle offers in green, Belize offers in blue. The ocean here is of a pigment that canīt be imagined or remembered. Each time one revisits this Caribbean oasis, an unavoidable thought of having never seen blues this intense replaces any notion that a memory or a picture can do these colors justice.
Thatīs just the ocean
Belize is a place where time seems to slow just enough to let its visitors think, relax and enjoy the moment. A Belizian minute is one to treasure. The people who travel here, and the people who call it home have at least one thing in common...you canīt be in a hurry while you are here, and it is paradise because of that. Madonna said it best when she wrote the song ĻLa Isla BonitaĻ about Ambequise Caye.
Our accommodations on the island add considerably to the feeling that one is in a perfect place. The Oasisī oceanfront views, pool, rooftop lookout and beautiful Caribbean decorated rooms are more than enough to complete the reality of a different, more peaceful existence.
If there will ever be a point when Del Fuegoīs mission is in danger...it is our stay on this island. It is difficult to imagine ever wanting to part with La Isla Bonita...mission or no mission.
What a good problem to have.
