The drive through the night gets us to San Antonio where the plan is to make a stop quick to acquire a few supplies and a stretch after 24 straight hours on the road.

An anticipated cameo turns into a week in Texas after more closely inspecting an increasingly loud squeak under the hood. The garage soon informs us the gears we require will be shipped in from Dallas as soon as possible.

The delay results in spending time handling details while our ride waits for its new gears.

This cruel twist of fate has us "cruising" the streets in a silver grocery-getting rental mini-van. Its a sign. Making the best of our surroundings we take in Austin's eclectic music scene and further preparing for the next hurdles.

It feels like we spent a year in Texas this week. Friday night and great to be on the road again, San Antonio in the rear view mirror and Brownsville, the border town, coming soon.
