As many of you must know, travel is a rough and tumble sort of thing. One day is full of glorious sights and sounds and the next it's raining and you’re jammed on a bus for twelve hours in-between a chicken and a howling baby with the window open. In short, there are, like at all times of life, good days and bad days. Unlike normal life however, the highs and lows are often much more dramatically different. A lot of things go in to making a good day, things like a comfortable place to sleep, a warm shower, a whole three meals, maybe some site seeing or a special activity. Not all these are essential of course. Depending on where you are and who you’re with, it’s quite possible to have a world of fun even in the worst of situations. However, some comforts are always appreciated.

In my fundraising ventures so far (aka. A lot of working and a lot of reading of financial aid policies and hunting for offices) I have managed to raise enough money, I believe, to cover my expenses for the year. I’ll have to rough it a little, but I should make it though for the year on my 20k( which seems like a lot, I know, but really isn't, many if not most people going RTW have at least half again that much, but I guess I only get to be young and foolish once, right?), but after airfare, ground transportation, insurance and all the other nitpicky expenses, that leaves me with to a daily budget of about 25 dollars a day for room, board and anything I want to do. Of course, that’s luxurious in South East Asia and downright impossible in Europe (just as an example). Of curs, shuffling that budget around helps, but still not that much.

Usually, when I talk about this trip, the response I get (after bewilderment) is usually "Oh, I’m so jealous!"

I’ve even had one lovely lady (Yes Liz, I’m looking at you! Love you bunches) decide that’s she’s going to armchair travel along with me.

So this is what I’m asking. Sponsor me for a day, and I’ll share it with you. I’ll send you pictures of the place I stay, the wonderful meals I find, the people I meet and the things I do. And of course, I’ll dedicate the day to you here on Delectable World.

Or, if you’re a poor starving college student like me, maybe a meal is more affordable (or even a drink, although please don’t gang up on me there).

Let me share a day with you and feel wonderful in the knowledge that you’ve made my day amazing too.

And I’ll love you so much for it! J
