Last week I was going to take the chicken bus to Rivas, however my friend Eunice volunteered to drive, so I had to wait.
This morning Renda, Juanita and I arrived at the central market in SJdS, and we hopped on the 9:30 bus :-)
It was pretty crowded with locals from SJdS...........lots of people, but no chickens today! It really is a great way to get around, and it only costs about $.50 for a half hour trip to the city!

Got a special "chicken bag" for my adventure today. It's pretty roomy, could easily get 2 or 3 chickens in there!!  Picked it up last Saturday at the Farmer's Market at Big Wave Dave's :-)

There's my gals Renda and Juanita, ready to hop on the bus to Rivas...............

So far.............so good.............

Next stop...............Rivas bus depot(about a half hour north of San Juan)

Much like our trip to Rivas last week (what can I say, it's a slow news week!) We spent a few hours shopping our way through the Central Mercado, stopped for lunch a the Rivas Hotel, and made our way back to the bus depot. When we got back, we were told there was no bus to San Juan del Sur until 2:40 pm. That was a long wait, so we opted to negotiate a fair price with one of the many taxi drivers swarmiig around the bus depot. It actually worked out quite well, and we paid about $3.00 each for the trip!

Tomorrow Ross and I will once again be up at the crack of dawn, and head out to our Dentist in Managua. We are nearing the end of our visits to the capital city, and hope to book our final appointment early next week ! It has been a wonderful experience so far, and I will do a complete update after we have finished our treatment :-)

That's all I have for today, however I would like to leave you with a short ( 2 minute) video clip I took last night. We experienced a crazy electrical storm about 7:00 pm, and it lasted for hours. The sky lit up like I have never seen, and the thunder was almost deafening!! Then when it started to rain...........well you decide........Never under estimate the power of Mother Nature!!

Okay first - I want one of those chicken bags!!! Adorable! Umm, do people actually put critters in them - like to transport? And more importantly, are said critters dead or alive at that point?

Now Deed, if you were hoping to entice more visitors to your little corner of Paradise down there in SJDS - ummm, perhaps posting that utterly terrifying video of Mother Nature's wrath is not umm perhaps the best way to do so? I was watching it here in safety of my home office - what like 3000 miles away - and got so scared I had to hide under my desk! Remind me again how long 'rainy season' lasts so I can make sure I avoid it if and when I ever get down that way ! Yikes! Maybe the "chicken" bag is big enough that big chickens like me can hide in there!

Hahaha, I will see what I can do about the chicken bag! Often people do bring their chickens, pigs, etc onto the bus.......however i didn't see any this trip ! Come on, the electrical storm was kinda cool, don't ya think ? It was right on top of us for quite a while and that's why it was so loud! I will admit though....I did run inside twice, so it was pretty scary!! The good news is, it only happens at night, and the days are beautiful. You just have to come down and see for yourself :-)
