We have had such a wonderful trip this year, and Ross and I are so lucky to have met so many truly wonderful people. Anyone who travels can tell you that the best thing about visiting places like this, are the people you meet! Tonight we are having another farewell dinner for one of the guests at Park Avenue Villa's. Tom Cruise (the original, not the actor) from Texas has been here for the last couple weeks, and heads home tomorrow morning.
Last week we all went riding at Rancho Chilamate. It was my 6th time riding with Blue and Jamie, and as you can see by these pictures Tom also had a good time!
Some of the very best beaches for horseback riding are here in Nicaragua! Tom is on the "Survivor Nicaragua" beach!!
I had so much fun riding the beaches in southern Nicaragua! I will look forward to coming back
next year and doing this again :-)
Blue is a wonderful photographer, and she takes dozens of great shots of your ride. This one is
one of my favorites!!
The day before Ross and I had to leave Nicaragua,Blue from Rancho Chilamate came by the Park Avenue Villa's to give me a CD of all the pictures she had taken of my rides over the last 3 months. This is such a great souvenir to have, and I will remember each time I went riding to the beach with Jamie and Blue, and all of the wonderful people I met at the ranch.Below are more pictures from my last adventure with Rancho Chilamate :-)
After all that excitement, it was finally time to say good bye to another great guy :-)
I've seen a whole lot of people come and go over the last 3 months. Now it is time for our friend Tom from Texas to head back home..............
It has become a bit of a tradition here on the balcony to give "departing guests" a send off dinner. Tonight I will be bbqing some fresh whole red snappers, with a mango chili sauce.
Walked down to the dock this morning and picked up these nice red snappers. I usually get them filleted, but tonight I'm going to bake them whole on the bbq.I think they weigh about 2&1/2 lbs each, so should be a really nice dinner!
Renda is in charge of the homemade baked beans, Bob and Trudy are bringing a salad, and Tom will bring a dessert! I am sure it will be another great evening with delicious food, and lasting memories!
Tomorrow morning we are all going to the Masaya Volcano and market. It's about a 2 hour drive north, close to Managua. Ross and I were there last year, and we enjoyed the volcano tour so much we decided to go see it again this year. We will also visit Lagoon de Apoyo, and San Juan de Oriente( where the good ceramics are!) If you are here in Nicaragua and are looking for a good day tour there are lots of reasonable day rates. We rented a private air conditioned van, with an English speaking guide for $130.00 US, and that's for 6 people! It's going to be a lot of fun, but then......................it alway's is!! Check back tomorrow night for an update on tonight's festivities, and some pictures of our road trip to Masaya!
