It's a sad day here in SJdS as Kevin and Betsy had to leave this morning.Ross and I had the pleasure of meeting this outgoing couple from Michigan this trip.

They arrived here in Nicaragua
back at the end of Oct,and they stayed in a house in the center of town.We were very fortunate to have been able to spend a lot of time with Kevin while Betsy returned home for a visit with the family in February. After Betsy returned the four of us enjoyed many fun filled hours together.Every once in a very long time you just connect with some people on all levels, and that's how we feel about these two :-) We have already talked about our trips to Nicaragua next year and will be sure to be here "same time, same place"

In honor of their last night in SJdS Ross and I invited Kevin and Betsy for dinner on the balcony here at the Park Avenue Villa's. As many people reading my blog know, this is the best restaurant in all of San Juan ! Always a spectacular view, warm breeze blowing, great friends and lively conversation!

First thing in the morning we walked down to the dock to our favorite fish market and picked up some of the biggest, sweetest shrimp to have for Kevin and Betsy's last dinner. Then we went to another favorite spot in the central market called "Pollo Rico" to pick up 4 pounds of boneless, skinless chicken for the BBQ. After another stunning sunset, the four of us enjoyed a yummy meal on the balcony. These truly are "The best of times"!

After dinner we all shared a few laughs, and talked about all the fun things we got to do together.Kevin laughed so hard his side ached! It was also quite a sight to see the "super moon" in the clear sky above. It really did look closer, brighter and bigger !

We are sitting on the balcony with our backs to the moon.

A few final thoughts about this years trip to Nicaragua from "my man Ross", below is a list of some fond memories about the time he spent with Kevin.Ross will look back and smile every time he thinks of these  (and in no particular order)...........
1) Barrio-  "ron a la roca, double"
2)"Tony"- capitalism at it's finest !
3)Henry's- $1.50 sunsets
4)"Pat"- My favorite Tona
5)"Paul"- S.I.I. Big Boy!
6)Most special- "Patron Saint" meets "Blue Thunder".............Until next year !

So ends another farewell dinner. We certainly have had a few of them this year. I am so happy that I have done this blog for the last couple years, so I can look back fondly at all the wonderful people we have met along the way. I will leave you with this........................

Ross and I still have 8 more days in SJdS, so please keep reading....................

So how big was your super moon down there? We had one up here too and for a change we had a clear sky to view it in miraculously! But after it popped up on the horizon (where it did look pretty impressive) it kind of settled into its more or less usual mooniness and I couldn't really tell if it was that much more of a moon than usual. We also had prawns for dinner - but NOTHING like your jumbo shrimp - talk about an oxymoron!!! Oh and nice sunset!

I must say the moon looked quite "super" From all the full moons I've seen, both here in Nica, and in North America I am sure it did look closer than usual, and yes it was much brighter than a "normal" moon.It stayed that way all night as far as I know. Those shrimp were fabulous!! They weighed in about 3 oz each!! Tonight it is jumbo lobster tails and red snapper! Don't know how we will manage back home :-(
