I'm sorry I haven't done any blog entries for the last couple days, because the World Vets are in town, and I volunteered to help out. I have many years experience in this field, so when I heard the World Vet were here in San Juan it was only natural that I jump in to help. Yesterday I was put in charge of Post Op, and was responsible for caring for the dogs and cats that had just come out of surgery.

At 8:00 am yesterday, and again today people came from all around San Juan del Sur with their pets to take advantage of the free spay/ neuter program offered by the World Vets.We saw 106 pets on Tuesday, and don't have the numbers for today. It was wayyyyyyy busier today though!

Over a three day period, all people in the area are encouraged to bring their pets into the "Free Clinic" The World Vets provide all their time and services at no cost to the individual. They are sponsored in a large part by The Bridgette Bardot Foundation. The former actress is a huge animal activist, she is a major sponsor  responsible for keeping the World Vets traveling all over the world!!

From first thing in the morning, until after sunset a steady stream of "patients" come through the recovery area. There are several Veterinarians, Vet Techs, and helpers who volunteer their time to look after "those who have no voice" I am so happy to have met all these wonderful volunteers! They are all her for the love of animals, and in this environment, it is such a good thing to see.

This is Jose from Spain. What a pleasure it was working with this young man for the last couple days! He is a Vet Tech, and is very good with animals. He was also a lot of fun to work with!

The World Vets do so much for the communities they visit, and they do it all at their OWN cost! All of the Veterinarians, techs, and helpers paid their own airfare and accommodation . I have never met a group of people with so much love and compassion for the animals they care for! It is an honor and a pleasure to be a small part of this during their 3 day stay in San Juan del Sur. The team leader  Dr. Winnie Krogman,  is one of the most amazing women I have met in a very long time. She works from dawn til dusk performing one surgery after another, and never once complaining about anything!!

This is Dr. Winnie Krogman, smiling as usual! She is a tireless individual who donates her time and expertise for the benefit of all these pets that desperately need medical care!! The World Vets travel all over the world helping communities with spay/ neuter programs, and also I believe in some countries they also offer large animal care ie: horses, yaks, cattle, camels, etc.........
There is no end to the devotion these individuals possess! After what I have experienced over the last couple days, I must admit I am going to sign up for the next volunteer trip, maybe Peru???

It is now close to 9:00 pm, and I have another full day at the clinic tomorrow so I am going to continue this story tomorrow evening. Until then............Buenos noches :-)

There are also 2 of San Juan del Sur's own Vets onboard . I will publish their names in my next blog, as I have worked from 8:00 am - 6:00 pm for the last two days and I am going to have to come back to this tomorrow evening when it is all said and done!!
