Yes it's true! I am going back to Rancho Chilamate again this morning.I had such a good time there last week, so I have decided to go riding every week for the remainder of my stay in Nicaragua!! WhooHoo!
This morning we are going to ride down to Playa Yankee, another of the beaches that was used in the filming of "Survivor Nicaragua" It was this beach where the survivors held there Tribal Council meetings.Luckily we will arrive at low tide, so it is a great time to go for a canter at the water's edge.
I will update this post later with more highlights of my adventures in Nicaragua later...............

I have just returned from another stellar day at the Rancho.Today we went to Playa Yankee, which in my humble opinion, may be one of the finest riding beaches in all of Nicaragua. I mean this beach is massive. I will have to "Google" it to find out how long it is. It is so nice for cantering along in the surf. There are no rocks, stones, sticks, etc... I see why CBS,chose this beach for filming. It is just stunning.

You can see we are a 'stone's throw" from Costa Rica !

We arrived on the beach around 10:00 am, and found it almost deserted. We did see a couple people way of in the distance, but other than that the 6 of us had the entire beach to ourselves.

This is the ultimate beach ride! If you get the chance to visit San Juan del Sur Nicaragua you absolutely must reserve yourself a ride of a lifetime with Blue and Jamie at Rancho Chilamate!

.Does this look like fun ?......or what???

You have to see this beach in person. It is stunning! You can almost have the entire beach to yourself! If you look off in the distance a few miles away is the coastline of Costa Rica :-)

Look at this horse! This is Durango. He is a great horse to ride if you like to run on the beach....So does he!!

Next stop is Costa Rica.................Giddyup!

NOoooooooo! I don't want to go home yet!!

In our group today we had 3 people from the U.K., and they were a lot of fun to hang out with for the day.We spent an hour or so running up and down the beach before returning to the ranch for a refreshing drink of Flor de Cana rum. I am not normally a drinker of rum, however this is reportedly one of the world's best !

Blue and Jamie come out on every ride. Jamie is the Trail Boss, and Blue takes fabulous "action shots' of all the rider's. Which is really a great thing to do, because it is almost impossible to take a good picture while you are cantering down the beach!!

see, there is Blue capturing another moment!

Out in front, is Jamie. His horse is really sweet! His name is J.R. Cool Stinger . We are headed home from our beach ride. Time for a much needed siesta, oh ya, and some rum!!

Looks like a lot of fun - how's yr arse doing though? You're gonna be bowlegged if you ride too much too often no? Well I guess not considering how much we used to ride as kiddies eh? So how many people go out on this ride every week? Is it just once a week or can you go more often? How do you (or the people in charge) decide which horse to ride? The horses look happy and healthy enough which is important to me....

Yes it is a whole lot of fun, more than you could ever imagine! The more I go, the more I want to go back. So far rump and hip are good, however my inner thighs are really taking a beating! The owner's of this ranch ( also from Vancouver) have been around horses for years, so they are really good at matching horses to individual riding skills. They really take good care of all 11 of their horses and all of them are very healthy.Starting next week I'm probably gonna go twice a week, since I am only here for another 2 months! other than that, all is well here in beautiful 'downtown' San Juan del Sur! I will post more pix when Blue sends me some.
Hasta luego !
