Wow, I love Hoi An. This is the silk capital of Vietnam, and there are shops everywhere that will make anything for you. So we decided we need some R&R and spent the day relaxing and shopping! Gave the sightseeing a rest.
So it was a pretty uneventful day overall, I got 4 dresses and 2 pairs of sandals made, had a facial and a manicure, bought a few presents and some jewellery. The sun actually came out for a while too but it is cold again now. I am getting suspicious that the bad weather is following me around.
Had a little Bridget Jones moment in one of the tailor shops earlier on - the (tiny tiny) girl was measuring me and she got a little bit of a fright when she pulled up my top to measure my (admittedly a bit flabby) hips. Girl: "Oh look! hee hee hee you should do some exercise! hysterical giggles. Then you could have small hips like me". Hmmmmm FAT CHANCE she was the size of a six year old! WELL lucky I was having a good day and could see she meant no harm so I had a good old giggle along with her (and all the other tiny people in the shop and the girls). I tried to explain I need the insulation for the cold in Ireland. Like a polar bear. She looked pointedly at (tiny) Caitriona. Then she explained to Cait that my dresses were more expensive because she had to use more material! As I said lucky I wasn't having a bad day.
The facial! We got the works thrown in, head, neck shoulders and arm massage. The woman was tiny but she had the strength of ten men. She nearly crushed my skull. Cait got tickly in the middle of the massage bit and was roaring laughing so I got the giggles. The therapists thought we were insane. I don't think they understood tickles.
Am in a bit of a conundrum now, I have to decide if I should buy an extra suitcase or is that just giving myself a licence to go insane with the shopping.....
PS I am not putting up any more pictures of me because I'm sick of wearing the same clothes every day. Oh and the hair situation. This morning Cait had to double check it was really me in my bed all she could see was the crazy hair.
