Well, i have to admit I have not been making the msot of my time in Sydney this time around. mainly due to the knee acting up, i've been sleeping in as well and wasting half the day. I totally planned to get up this morning, but crappy roomates (particularly the girl on the bunk above, in and out all night, waking me each time, and THEN using my TOWEL! yuck.)

Anyways, I've got a travel pass for the week so it's made it easy for me to catch a train wherever and not worry if I don't make the most of it. I went to Bondi with plans to do a 5km coastal walk but, knee pains.

I did however get up on Sunday and catch a bus to Randwick Racecourse, site of some of the World Youth Day 2008 (WYD) celebrations. The pope celebrated the final mass of the week to a crowd of approx 400,000 "pilgrims". It was pretty odd having mass outside, hearing some of the traditional hymns etc and getting communion under the sky! I was less then pleased however, when instead of letting me go left upon exit to return to the bus stop I had come from, they directed everyone right... wnd we had to walk 4.2kms to Central Station in town! Um, thanks. Really fun especially when the knee was bugging me from standing up, sitting down, kneeling for 2 hours! Argh.

I also finally made use of the free entry ticket I had from IEP, and spent a few hours in the Aquarium. I was less than impressed with the general displays, they seemed cruelly small to the fishies etc. However they did have a few underwater tunnels which were quite cool- one under the seal sanctuary, and one underneath some sharks etc!

Today I randomly decided to check out the "Art Afterhours" at the Gallery, and there was a celebrity talk with Akira Isogawa, who is a famous fashion designer (in australia anyways, and Paris too). Of course me being me, went up and got a photo afterwards so the day wasn't a complete loss. I have another 6 days here before jetting to Darwin to hook up with Ashlee and begin our West Coast road trip! I'm very excited. I also figure i have another week here at New Years so hopefully anything I am unable to do this time due to lack of mobility can be done then. I will however attempt to make a better effort at not wasting my time! I wanted to learn how to knit btu I can't seem to figure out where they sell yarn etc. You would THINK its a simple matter...!

Anyways, maybe next entry I will have done some more interesting activites to warrant a more interesting entry. I'm working on following up the lost camera with the insurance company so hopefully I can get something out of that... because my old camera is really not impressing me any more!
