My four days at home were awesome and busy. I did a TON of laundry, left loads of stuff behind (thanks to my shopping stock-up in San Francisco), downloaded a bunch of new stuff for my iPod, and had 2 BBQs, three nights out, a free haircut from Whitney (thanks!) and heaps of fun.
It was so good to see so many family and friends! Just hits home how much I am missing you all. I've come to the decision that it will probably be January when I head home (for good!) I've also booked a 6 week trip to Southeast Asia, flying in/out of Kuala Lampur (Malaysia) and a 40-day Intrepid group tour of Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam and Loas. I will be spending my birthday in Loas.
In San Francisco, I discoved that my 10:40pm flight had been delayed.. until 10am the NEXT MORNING! Qantas put me (and loads of others) up for the night with dinner and brekkie vouchers. I arrived in Sydney the same day as expected, only 13 hours later. I also managed to sprain (strain?) my knee on the airplane. how is this possible you ask? Well, first of all, it's me. Who else? I only had one other rowmate in the aisle, and she was attempting to sleep off a migraine. I didn't want to wake her so I decided to climb over her instead. Well, I got ym right leg over and once i put weight on it, it just gave out exactly like last year (yup, same knee!) and I pretty much almost sat directly on her.. luckily managed to fall to the seat beside her instead of on her! Anyways, it effin hurts. Stairs are the devil. I'm going to look into finding a physio ASAP but who knows being the weekend and all. I also made a few attempts ate finding some temp work for the week and a half I am in Sydney.
On the 29th I fly (yes, AGAIN... I am starting to get really sick of it!) to Darwin where I will meet up with Ashlee, past NZ Kiwi Bus travel mate and future road-tripping companion. Ashlee has a car and we are going to do the West Coast together! hopefully my knee will allow me to share the driving!
It is World Youth Week 08 in Sydney, and yesterday I joined the massive crowds to get a glimpse of Pope Benedict as he drove by in his Popemobile. Of course in my photo some lit=up sign is reflecting directly over his face on the glass... typical! My bad luck is catching up on me! Later on, I headed over to Lyric Theatre at Star City for a performance of "The Phantom of the Opera". It was really excellent! The set was so impressive as well as the singing. A great show.
Now I have a week and a half to kill... should be interesting when too much walking gets really painful!
On a plus note, I found the exact pair of glasses I lost (again, typical me) for half the price I paid the first time!
Well, its going to be a boring 11 days.
