Well, once again its amazing how quickly plans change in travel-world. We discovered that in order to go to either Noosa or Rainbow Beach (and we had planned on hitting both) to go onto the next destination involved bussing it BACK to Brissy before heading to the next one. So first, we scratched out both, but when booking Fraser Island, ended up with a few extra days. So we decided AGAIN to go to Noosa. Then, everything crumbled, Anita had a family emergency and is heading home tonight to Scotland. Gill will be leaving early on June 4, so I'll have a few weeks of "freedom" (and henceforth maybe some fruitpicking, etc).
Anyways, I hate to say it, but Brisbane isn't the greatest city to visit. Mostly all we have done is a lot of shopping/window shopping (I've got the dress for the wedding!), strolling along southbank, and just chilling out. On Tuesday evening however, I did manage to meet up for dinner/drinks with another fellow Contiki-er from my Eastern Road trip in '06.
On Friday, the three of us spent the day with Alma, Colin's mum, who lives here in Brissy. We actually had a really good day. She took us to the Mount Coot-tha botanic gardens which were just amazing. They had a Japanese garden, and me loving all things Japanese-style thought it was fantastic. We then had a picnic overlooking the city, before driving up to an ever higher lookout and getting even better views. We had a brief shopping and coffee sesh at a shopping centre before heading back to Alma's house, where we enjoyed out first home cooked meal in who knows how long.
We had planned to go to the rugby match on Saturday, however nights of bad sleep thanks to the inconsiderate roommates that run abound in Australia caught up with us and we ended up napping and missing our opportunity. Oops.
Well. So our time here has been boring but that is you updated!
