It's amazing how 7 weeks can seem like so long, yet also like nothing at all.

That's how I fell about my time here in New Zealand. I'm super excited to begin the new adventure that is Australia, yet sad because I don't know if I will ever be back here. (Especially feeling that towards the North Island and all the amazing people that I will be leaving behind on Sunday). Don't get me wrong, New Zealand is a great country. I just don't seem to have that pull towards it that some travelers do, who return later on. I think this is partially because NZ was only ever intended as a side trip from Oz- that is where my true excitement lays. Which means it should be that much better when I get there, for all the anticipation!

Mom and Dad leave Canada tomorrow, and will be here in less than 48 hours! This means I have to do the pack and purge tonight. Pawn off all my full size toiletries which are not conducive to traveling light. Also put all the crap I am sending back home aside, so that I don't have to bother lugging it around- that's what parents are for! (Only kidding!)

Work has finally come to an end. Feels a bit like the end of an era! It did not help that my replacement which I had to train was definitely not the sharpest crayon in the box (or whatever saying you might prefer) and had no retention whatsoever. I guess I'm a hard act to follow as well :P I returned the uniform as well today, to ensure that I get my holiday pay. Should go through next week, but again it all depends on the back pay... which I won't bother mentioning henceforth until it actually happens.

I've finished booking all the flights for this (North American) summer. I fly out of Sydney on June 26th, landing at noon (despite leaving at 11:30am). 6am the following day (so I will camp out in the airport) I fly into Cancun, and spend a week in the Mayan Riviera for Kristy's wedding. Then back to San Fran on July 4 (hopefully with time to see some celebrations) and then back to Oz on July 14th. It's going to be a great time and I'm really looking forward to it. Now I just have to worry about booking the hotel relatively last minute in order to get a good deal. I have my fingers crossed that July doesn't get unusually busy this year, but then it's not peak season so I pray my plans all follow through!!

Next time I write, I should have more interesting things to say!
