Well, I haven't done much since the last entry, with the exception of the long bus journey from Auckland to Wellington (11 hours... how did I do it twice??) and.. drum roll please... got myself a sweet (paying) job for a 3 month contract here in Wellington. It's food service at the hospital, they are 12-hour shifts, 2 days on, 2 days off. Basically I give the patients their 3 meals a day. Weekends are time and a half, and out of 4 weeks, I'd work 14 shifts, 4 of them being weekends. Hopefully I'll be too tired to want to go spend on my hard-earned money at the bars this time around!
The only downside (ok, there are two) is, it looks like I am working on Christmas.. 7am-7:30pm. The ENTIRE day. So much for coming to Welly to be with my friends for that! I'm going to enquire if it might possibly be any shorter? We'll see. We can always do a late dinner but I was looking forward to making our traditional family breakfast (our version of Egg McMuffins) on my own! :(
Secondly, being a 3 month term, that would mean only 5-6 weeks in the South Island. I really wanted to spend more time there, but this is just such an amazing opportunity to save money that it will really help set me up for later, Kristy's wedding in July etc. Then I could also just spend the entire 6 weeks in the south doing solid traveling and not having to worry about work again til I go to Australia.
Anyways, I will likely train tomorrow, then start Monday after a group of us do a road trip to Taupo to send Shane off (for good.. sad!).
XO
