Ok, so this time the update really is mainly boring!
Life has been continuing as normal. I proved to myself that despite being really good on the Nintendo Wii, this does not translate to being any good at bowling in real life. Oh well, for $2/game, it was cheap, good fun with Jacky! Then we went and saw the NZ film, the Tattooist. I'm not sure if this film is even in North America, so heres a link if anyone is interested: http://www.thetattooistmovie.com/home.htm . It was actually a great film, and combines a few a my fave things, tattoos and NZ. A little bit scary for my liking though!!
I finally got paid for the first time into my NZ bank account (not to mention used the EFTPOS card, as they call Interac/Debit here!) It is sad the things that excite you when you are travelling. After groceries and weekly rent, I have saved a grand total of $71 for the week. Big money! Next week it'll be slightly higher... maybe $80! But I think that is going to be the general amount I'll actually be saving. As you can see, not too much. I'll be glad to pay for one of my Fiji tours, and basically break even as I previously mentioned.
On that note... one exciting thing DID happen... I booked my flight to Fiji! I will be going for 2 weeks, from Oct 25- Nov 8th. This came after Justin (damn him!) postponed the concert one month, til November 24. I am still going to go to Fiji the exact same dates as planned, however I will now have another week and a half to kill on the north island before I can fly south. I'm considering Raglan for a few days, it is a huge surfing spot, so maybe I'll take some lessons.
I checked out the Karori Wildlife Sanctuary on the weekend, it was a nice walk but to be honest we didn't really see all that much wildlife. We saw a tuatara, which is a lizard like thing. Then I went to my first Toga party on Saturday night! Those things are difficult to do up, makes you glad to buttons and zippers now! It was a good night though, one of the Stray bus drivers was at the bar so I had a good time chatting to him about NZ, and I enjoyed my first Rugby game (on TV) including watching the All Blacks perform the haka. (I also took advantage of chatting with a local and had the driver explain the game to me, considering I don't even understand "American" Football). Anyways, no surprise, the All Blacks won by a huge amount (over 100 points), but Portugal managed to score a few which apparently was a bit more surprising. The All Blacks were probably being nice (or lazy!) A real "Kiwi Experience"!
XOXO
