not too much exciting to report this time. I have been working nearly every day, to the extent where I have to ignore numerous texts and phone calls from the manager in order to enjoy my one day off in the week. Also getting paid late, and the schedule not being posted until the day before the work week starts are some of the annoyances I have been facing. lets just say the manager is definitely a flake, and really disorganized. The work itself isn;t too bad, I mean, I'm making sandwiches! And apparently I am a natural at it. Oh well, its nice to finally have some money coming in instead of only going out! I'm hoping to at least break even during these weeks, even if I can't really save much. (but with the amount of hours I've worked this week, I think I'll be able to save SOME!)
Things socially have definitely been looking up. I have a few friends that were at Base as well, both Jacky and Charie have moved into a flat however. I was ready to spend the extra $15 per week, however the landlord did not want to rent for such a short period of time, since summer is approaching and all the uni students leave town. Wellywood is actually turning out to be a really cool place, lots of cool people. On Saturday night we joined the group for drinking and going out, I was introduced to all as "the newbie". Most of the long termers here are Irish, with a few Americans and a German thrown in for good measure. I believe one other Canadian as well, however we have not met.
As of today, all of my roomies have moved out. So now I have the room to myself, for a little while, anyways. I might actually get lonely! it'll be nice to sleep without the background noise of snoring however! Drew, one of the roomies, works at the Westpac Stadium, which is where all of the Welly concerts go on, and gets hooked up with free tickets. this means that I am going to the Silverchair concert free on October 18! (Two concerts in one week... considering its been years since I've been to a big show, it might be overload!) I'm going to have to download some of their stuff and load it into my mp3 player since I only know a few of their songs, but everything I recall of theirs is good stuff!
One of the cool things about living in a city is the huge variety of foods available. i tried Malaysian for the first time on Friday, we had a little going away dinner for Uma, one of the guys who was at base. He is heading to Queenstown/Milford for a job on a cruise ship. Sounds "cushy" as they say here! Then I had to satisfy my craving to a sugar-free vanilla Starbucks latte. it has been too long!
In response to Melissa's vegemite experience, I had one of my own with Marmite. Good thing I didn't record it photographically (is that a word?) since the face I made was probably much worse, and I couldn't even force myself to swallow the little square of toast. I feel your pain over there in Australia!!
And for Steph, I have actually cooked myself a few good meals! I'm really impressed with myself. Well, tonight is all you can eat pizza for $10 at Hell, which is a pizza place with a really good rep here in NZ. I'm excited to try it! Tomorrow is cheap ladies bowling and then movie night. Should be fun!
Happy Anniversary to Mom & Dad, and Happy Birthday to Stephen and Stephanie! Check your inboxes!
XOXO

Having fun!!!
Work.. what can I say. I don't think it matters where you work these days, there are always assholes to be seen.
Sounds like you're fitting into the NZ lifestyle fairly well.
Thanks for the Anniversary wishes from your mom & dad. Your comments were truly touching.
Love you & can't wait to see you!!!
