So, after writing last entry that now I'll having nothing interesting to write about, I proved myself wrong. On Friday, I walked all the way down to the parliaments and did the free guided tour. On the way, some girl working for greenpeace tried to talk me into signing up (re: giving them money), but we got into a chat about where I was from, and I realized I was lacking on a few vital statistics about my country, so I looked that up later). It was actually pretty interesting, and a great value! Haha. I even got the sit at the head of the table in the Maori Affairs Committee room! That have a pretty cool galleria with really great pieces, and I always seem to be interested in a bit of the history. (Luckily they didn't get into the politics! :P)
After the tour, I attempted to find the cable cars. Lonely planet touts them as the "must do" of Wellington. Well, after like half hour or more of wandering, I finally found them
So anyways, I finally found the ticket booth (in a little mall, no less) and bought a return ticket. Well, after the quite uneventful and overrated ride up, i wandered around, took in some views, and checked out the little museum. I then realized I had lost the ticket, and unwilling to pay again, I walked down the hill.
By this point, I was kicking myself for a bad footwear choice, and decided to pull a kiwi and go barefoot. Well, that wasn't the most comfortable thing either so my feet were in quite a lot of pain by the time I got home. Good news, I made my first full out cooked dinner (steak sandwich and veg) and it turned out really well!
Yesterday, I had my first shift at work which is a story in itself. Turns out I have a knack for dividing up the steak portions. Anyways, after screwing up the very first sub (wrong sauce!) it went pretty well. I initially was only going in for the two hour training but I stayed (and got paid!) for another 3 hours to learn the art of sandwich making. afterwards, I made the trek up Mt Victoria. Well, this is a walking path, but when people say "follow the signs" (such in the case of the cable car!) I seem to be blind to them, so i walked the long, but less arduous, driving road up the mountain (an hour) and then took again close to an hour to go home as I wanted to check out another hostel, but it was closed
I met my fellow dorm mate, and a man that she hangs out with (the are both older). They are working here as well, so now anyways I have people to hang out with. I'm not sure which hostel they will be moving to though. I worked a full shift today and I am wiped out!! Its amazing how quickly you lose that ability to stand on your feet all day. And I picked up another shift for Tuesday (the schedule starts Wednesday, so next week isn't posted yet). But my first pay should be alright, 16 hours in 3 shifts. It'll be nice to have money coming IN rather than OUT for once! (Well, except then it will go straight to the accommodation anyways!)
Well, thats all the news!
XOXO

P.S. Just a quick update: I'm at a different hostel now, "Wellywood Backpackers" just 5 mins away. Its a long term room, its kind of small but what can you do. Hopefully I'll manage!!

Haha, you are just so you! The whole losing the ticket thing and walking down the hill. These are the facial expression pictures that I want to see.
I never knew about your flower tatoo story, good stuff.
Back to the second day of class.
Cheers
