So, after a few more days of travelling and generally feeling like a piece of garbage, I have arrived into my new "home" base!

On the last leg of our East As trip, we had a "taste sensation" tour (their words, not mine) involving tastings of cheese, honey, chocolate, and wine. Definetely not a diabetic activity, thats for sure. And, during our stop in Hastings for lunch (which is a really cool little town, I quite liked it!) I finally found a new purse that was big enough to replace my old one, so I splurged $60NZD on it (Volcom). Happiness! Upon arrival back in Taupo, I wandered the streets looking for my local bank branch and a vodafone store.. luckily, being a decently small town, they were across the street from each other. The bank assured me my lost info wasn't important, as there was no pin number written down. (well, unless the finder wants to use my account number so I get paid for their work :P) And after a quick call ahead to the next stop to make sure Sarah hadn't found my phone and left it, i rocked into Vodafone and bought the cheapest model possible 01 Another view across Lake taupo
01 Another view across Lake taupo
. Very shitty after I had been spoiled with camera/colour phones! This is like old skool... grey screen only. It doesn't even have a calendar :( But I made sure that it was unlocked, and would work in Australia and well as SE Asia if I do make it over there, so all is well. I won't even want to take it home!!

On the free day, I basically didn't do much. I fel really bad for my roomies, as I was coughing away all night, and I was on the top bunk, and Ian, who was below, had to get up at half five (along with 3 of the other guys) to do the Tongariro crossing which I had decided against due to my cold. Well good thing, when they got near the top it was too windy so they had to turn around anyways. Since I will be going back to Auckland on Oct 24 because I got a Justin Timberlake ticket!! (general floor admission!!) I figure I will try to stop through Taupo again and do the crossing when a) I'm in better shape (starting jogging again soon! knee feels better) and b) Its not effin freezing cold and snowy up on the mountain.

When we left Taupo for the second time, we were headed towards River Valley. This is basically an adventure lodge, so since I was feeling sick and not adventurous at all, I chilled in the morning while everyone else did white water rafting (best in NZ) or horse trekking. We got into Welly around 6ish, and since most of the group was moving on the the South Island today, we got an early start at the bar and had a LATE finish. Sometimes, even though you feel as sick as you've ever been from a cold, it doesn't stop you from going out and dancing til 3am. Oops. Well, now that I am here to stay (I figure right up until the concert), I can recover later. I DID buy some multivitamins to help me stay healthier!!

XOXO
