Arrive at 7.00am and traipse the streets to find our hostel. Found it actually by chance as it was hidden by renovation framework things. The hostel was great and called Friendly fun Franks, it was run by an Australian guy and it had everything a backpacker could want. Free internet, free coffee, new towel daily and a common room.
We weren't able to get into our dorm until 4 in the afternoon so we started the day by wandering the quiet streets, nothing is open till 10.30. It was so beautiful, cobble stoned alleyways, picturesque medieval style buildings, fantastic.
Had a look at the occupation museum, a must if you're going to Latvia or Estonia. Very interesting and it is amazing that these people are so happy, and forgiving of Russia. We also did a token church that had been through very hard times during the war, burnt down, people forbidden to go to services etc
In the afternoon we made a trip to the beach, it was such a beautiful day and we were craving to go for a swim even if it was cold. However, this was not the paradise we thought it was going to be. It did have lovely white sand, and thousands of beauties, boys playing soccer, girls sunbathing and watching, but the water ..... GROSS. It was luke warm and browny colour with algae and it STUNK!!!! Oh well we just sunbathed. No tan even though we spent a good hour and a half in the sun.
Had an entertaining night with some duchies, looking for a feed. Went to the Skyline bar, this had a fabulous view of the city at night, it's a must for tourists. Stewart was given a couple of cards to attend strip shows, but tactfully declined the offer, I don't know why!
The next day we had the best and cheapest breakfast before hopping on another bus to Tallinn, Estonia.
