Well, we are only two days away from our Thailand departure. I am praying that there is no snow during our travels. I am really excited about our trip this year. We have some "new" adventures this year which will keep our trip interesting and exciting.

I have been busy the last several days completing all of the last minute details for our trip. I always register my group with the US Embassy in Chiangmai and this year was no different. This year we have been asked to conduct an English session for the Homestay Hosts in Maegumpong Village. So, I created an English Communication Board that we will leave for the villagers to use with their homestay guests. I also created name badges for every participant as we not only have English names but we have Thai names as well. Both of these names, along with our institutional affiliations, needed to go on a name badge. Of course there is always a lot of paperwork that needs to be completed when conducting an oversees experience like this. Our Thai hosts and I have been communicating by Skype as we finalize last minute details. I believe all of my shopping is complete as I try to purchase meaningful gifts for our Thai hosts/faculty/staff/friends. The course materials have been posted to our learning management system, SAKAI, and students should have already started some of their course work.

Tomorrow I plan to clean house, catch up on laundry and finalize my packing. The rest of the day will be spent preparing this year's presentation on "Emergency Care in the USA". I am trying to lighten my last minute activities so that I can feel more rested and less stressed prior to our busy travel schedule. I already started my "Airborne" supplements so that I can combat those "bad" airplane germs. :)

Tuesday will be busy. We have to take our two daughters to college and get them settled in for their J-term semester. We are then going to meet the students at 4 pm with a 5 pm departure. We will weigh our luggage, shift some of the weight d/t heavy textbooks and gifts and then pack them in the van. This year I have a student driver who will be driving us to JFK in a 15 passenger van.I hope the an is big enough to handle all of the luggage we will have. We should arrive at JFK between 9-10 pm. Our flight is scheduled to leave at 12:50 am. So, as long as we are there 2-3 hrs before our departure, we will be good. I am also hoping that this year we can check in on-line which will hopefully decrease the time and hassle of waiting in lines at the airport.

This year I am taking my IPAD 2 with me. I have scanned and loaded all of my documents, schedules, receipts etc to my IPAD. I am hoping that this will decrease the amount of "hard copies" that I need to carry with me and will allow quick and easy access to those needed files. I am using the Tripit application which nicely organizes and presents all of my airline, hotel and tour itineraries. I also downloaded the Korean Airline and Thai Airways applications which contain all of my reservation information as well. My facebook application will aid me in accessing this travel blog. I have Skype on my IPAD so I plan on using that to communicate with my family in the USA. Remember, I will be 12 hrs earlier than the US east coast.

So, I believe I have planned well. Let's see if it plays out as well as I hope it will. So, for now my friends, goodbye and I will update you on our trip as soon as I can.

Safe travels to you and your group. Thanks for sharing how technology is helping you organize the travel. It will be interesting to hear how that works throughout your time in Thailand. Godspeed!
