Got up at 5:30 am, and were in the truck and motoring out of the RV park by 6:15... We TOTALLY should have poached the site we stayed at, given that we got in after dark and left before it got light! I couldn't tell you what the place looked like - we never saw it... Thank god we decided to stop and drain the gray water out of Bokeh on our way out because we committed newbie mistake #5 for the trip:

We forgot to unplug from the 30amp hookup!!!

If the position of the hookup relative to the angle we drove away at had not been exactly right (and it was), we could have done untold damage to our power cord and/or to the power supply at the RV park... if you've ever hooked up power to an RV at an RV park before, I know you are still making that ssssss noise we all make when we imagine a horrific possibility! But, as usual, our travel karma is working overtime for us....

When the sunrise started to go off, I was on the phone with my friend Peggy, having her try to find me a Fourbucks near Davenport, OH. I had to get off because Chris was ready to start shooting, which means I'm driving... from the passenger seat. I'm really good at it now, btw... because I drove off and on ALL day long! He shot his first frame at 7:07am. His last frame of the day was shot at 5:20pm... 594 frames shot today.

The sunrise lasted for well over an hour. It just kept going off... and then, we had these amazing puffy clouds and bluer that blue skies framing subtle fall colors. We basically had soft box lighting from 7am till 4pm... Then, sunset went off behind us and the effect on the clouds in front of us was magical! It was the fastest and most gorgeous 11 hours of driving I've ever experienced...

And then there was the tailwind! I kid you not, we came thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiis close to earning a badge of honor today... we almost got pulled over for speeding!! Imagine that, our "legal to drink" aged vehicle, tin mansion in tow, was barreling down the highway at 70 in a 60... with the pedal far from the metal... and to think Blue was clocked at 18mph on an 8% grade in Utah while floored. We were SO proud... we passed not one but several semis today, even!

Now we lay our heads to rest.
We pray for more of tailwind 'fest.
If we slow 'fore mountains topped
We'll need more speed before we're stopped.

I know, I know... enough of the poetry!

Okay. So, 476 miles and two mountain ranges to go before we get home... I can't wait to be home, but I am going to miss keeping this blog. Thank you everyone for the continuous flow of encouragement and support. It's been greatly appreciated and taken to heart. You've been a great audience!!

Things we LOVE
non-stop light, bucolic landscapes, and never-ending photo-ops from the driver's seat

Things we HATE
not finding stickers or decals to plaster on Bokeh's buttocks in 90% of the places we've stopped on this trip!!
