Well, we're still here in Jackson, WY. Bill Kunkle is that good of a host. So, we made the mad dash from Kanab to Jackson, and from what I recall, it was really pretty. Since we've been here in Jackson, however, it's been overcast and rainy. Not a problem given how crappy I felt until yesterday.

Bill is a neighbor of ours from back home. One of his nicknames is the Unofficial Mayor of Del Ray. When he's in Del Ray, you can find him at our coffee shop, St. Elmo's pretty much every morning. But, a few months ago, he decided to go hang out in Jackson for more than his usual two week vacation each year. He's renting a sweet house on, get this, "Heck of a Hill Road." No kidding! So we parked the trailer and have been recharging our internal batteries for the last few days.

As for the update on the project, to date, we have stories from:

New Mexico

From the Gulf Coast, we have the following areas covered:

Plaquemines Parish
Lake View
Mid City
Lower 9th Ward
Pass Christian
Bay St. Louis

We have at least one representative of the following categories:
o old/young/white/black/couples/single/male/female/family
First Responder
Independent Volunteer
Animal Rescue Organization
Medical Professional

We have appointments/agreements to get the following at some point:

FEMA (Brownie, in fact ;-)
Evacuee host family
Casino worker

...and others I am sure I am forgetting. Why tell you this? Twofold: I'm really multitasking as I have two more grant applications to write tonight and need to be able to say what we've done to date in a semi-sexy package; and if anyone reading this either knows of someone they can direct us to or can think of a category we've overlooked, you can let us know. Oh, and if you know of anyone who wants to fund/publish this project, feel free to let me know ;-)

Alpine Aire Sierra Chicken
9 out of 10
"This one had meat chunks you could sink your teeth into!" says Chris... It was very tasty, and if I may, complex array of textures and flavors... Definitely worthy of a repeat.

MaryJane's Farm Organic Wild Forest Mushroom Couscous
8 out of 10 from Adrienne
3 out of 10 from Chris
To be fair, this is a vegan dish, and Chris is ALL about his meat. I thought it was great - clean and simple. Now, on the trail, if this is all there is, I doubt I'd be happy about it. As a side dish, it's not hearty. We both would like to have seen it be less watery, and I think it should have had larger mushroom pieces.

Things we LOVE
Our first snow of the year

Things we HATE
How friggin' expensive Jackson is!!!!
