We toured around Temuco one of Chile's fastest growing cities. This fast paced city has few attractions but we gave it a short tour before continuing on south.

One thing that stands out for us is the style of houses. Residential architecture is unattractive and boring as each areas houses are exactly the same.

We travel to the coast again to see what the small ports and villages along the way have to offer. Farmland and forests make up most of the landscape.

We went as far as Puerto Domingo along a coastal lake where we followed signs to a campground but when we arrived to the location there was no camping. We have discovered that camping sometimes means a day use area for picnics. It would have been a nice spot to camp but not for us at this time.

We enjoy the quiet relaxing drive back to the PanAm where we continue south to Loncocha where we once again find the hospitality of Copec. Amongst all the other vehicles was unusual one: a large civilian transport helicopter was also being refueled. This was obviously a rare event because all the girls working at the station lined up for a quick fly over their station. We were entertained for a good half hour watching this happen. Who knows whether this was an emergency or a scheduled stop.

Satisfied with our day trip to the coast we happily settle in for another quiet night. Surprisingly it is quiet at these centers. We tuck ourselves into a corner away from the hustle and bustle and sleep soundly.
