I half expected our vouchers for the ferry and the snorkeling trip would turn out to be fake, but we didn't have a single problem redeeming them. We drove to Playa Del Carmen and took the ferry over to Cozumel. It was again pretty hot outside, but the water was a million shades of blue that you had to see to appreciate. We had an hour to kill before our snorkeling tour, so we walked around the main square where we were inundated with offers for cheap souvenirs.
The highlight of our snorkeling tour was spotting an enormous barracuda hovering over a school of fish. Too bad we couldn't get a picture. There were lots of fish around, but not too much coral. We mostly saw the fish when they were feeding them for the glass bottom boat and for the pictures.
On our tour, we met a very nice woman from Holland who was traveling by herself, so we invited her to join us for dinner. After walking along the coast for a while and not seeing any good spots for drinks, we head towards a place for dinner. Unfortunately, they had burned down, but we ran into some other tourists who recommended another spot nearby. I had a lovely pork leg - it was enormous! But I managed to eat most of it :) Peter liked his halibut, but I thought it was dry. The lime soup had a nice flavor, but the chicken in it was tasteless.
We had to wait until the 11 PM ferry, but we caught a nice performance of Mayan dancers. It was a good thing they were there, because there really wasn't a thing to do in Cozumel otherwise. Talk about a sleepy beach town!.
