Got off the train determined to make my own way to the ferry and avoid the agents. Got a guy at the night market to take me to the pier where I bought a ticket direct from the boat people. Boat left at midnight, mattresses on the floor and fans. Some other backpackers and a few thais, not very busy. Beautiful clear night with plenty of stars out as we left for the open water...
