I don't suppose there are too many blog entries which cover the kinds of things that we've done over the past two days. It just isn't very exciting but obviously a totally integral part of any trip longer than a week or so, and I'm sure we've probably spent longer over the past six months doing these kind of things than we have seeing and doing amazing things.
Arriving in Limbang to stay in a nice hotel what did we do? We spent the evening watching TV. Not just that, the only decent channel was controlled by the girls at the front desk - you watch what they watch, they have the remote. So we watched the ends of three films: Fat Albert, Big and something else equally memorable. Fantastic! We lay about and the only exertion was to go and feed ourselves. Limbang is that kind of place.
Today, up at seven for a ferry to the non-descript island of Labuan, which is a kind of tax haven and basically surrounded by Brunei (which we've seen but not set foot in!). Hanging about there for three hours (more feeding time) then another ferry to get here to Kota Kinabalu, or KK as everyone calls it. That's six hours of ferries, plus however many hours of hanging around. And feeding. Then a walk of about 800m in the heat to three guesthouses to finally get a room. Then, it's onto laundry. They don't do it so out with the bar of laundry soap, and scrub away, hanging the stuff out to dry in the last rays of the sun.
Because we want to go to a place called Sungai Kinabatangan to see some wildlife, our evening is spent online comparing various packages and discussing it with the hostel staff. We'll go for a three day two night trip, and be back here in time to fly to Bangkok on Saturday morning.
Exciting, Exotic, Thrilling! Borneo as you've never imagined it before!

(Tune in same bat time, same bat channel...)
