In the limited time I was there I did ride the (I don't know what it's called exactly) ride with the swings that takes you up high and you can see the entire festival. I didn't realize just how enormous Oktoberfest was until I saw the aerial view- it was spectacular. I managed to walk through almost every aisle and go into approximately 8 tents.
The tents are a massive explosion of beer (or course), waiters and waitresses bustling past everyone to fill orders, and usually some live music that fills the hearts and spirits of those within the tents. Trying to find a seat at a table is nearly impossible unless you go EXTREMELY early in the morning- it's easier if you're a cute girl with a short skirt/dress though
Ironically, I never had any beer at Oktoberfest... silly I know, but when you're only there for 2 hours and you want to see as much as possible- you can't expect to settle down at a table and order a round of beers. I did at least eat a massive pretzel that somewhat curbed my disappointment.
Sadly, I was unable to find a dirndl in my size so I felt left out in the regard. I severely regret not purchasing one before I left the states.
Other than the small bit of disappointment I encountered due to my lack of time allotted for the festival, I enjoyed every second.
*P.S. The reason I was only at Oktoberfest for such a short amount of time was because I was doing a combo trip with Prague for the weekend and most of my time was spent traveling from Florence-Prague-Munich-and back to Florence*
