What I did
The Tower has three different levels for visitors to ascend to. Walking from ground level to the first level you have the pleasure of walking up 300 steps. You also get to walk up another 300+ steps from the first level to the second level. Once I walked the bottom of the Tower it was more than evident that I was going to take the steps
Once I got to the first tier I could have taken a break, got a glass of wine and look out over the city. I choose to keep marching up. I can get wine on the way down. After climbing another 300+ steps I found myself on the second tier and I was super amazed at the view of Paris from the vantage point. I also found myself sweating to death. I guess those steps got the better of me the second time around.
At this point I thought I might be done climbing the Tower. From here on out you have to take an elevator the rest of the way in order to get to the third and final tier. I looked up many times and debated not going up for a good forty five minutes. The issue was not wanting to go but the elevator. I hate elevators with glass walls. When I was 6 years old I had the pleasure of going up the CN Tower in Toronto and it literally shot you up to the top in an all glass elevator
Once I got to the top I raised my hands in a classic Richard Nixon victory signal right before he left the White House for the last time. Ho ho I made it. I can honestly say the ride was worth it. The view was out of this world. It was almost surreal that I was in Paris at the Eiffel Tower. The best 13 euros I spent all year!
Once I made it back down to the first tier I got that glass of wine. I really did not want that wine but I felt I owed it to Paris to have drink at the Eiffel Tower!
