We're moving out of our place in Bloomington 3 days before we fly out on our trip so there's all kinds of packing going on here. We thought it would be smart to pack up for the trip first to get that out of the way and have time to stock up on any last-minute items we forgot. Then, pack up the house. Plus, let's be honest, packing for the trip is way more fun!

As usual, I went a tad overboard purchasing products in the 'we might need that!' category and so the weekend started out with a trip to the Post Office to send back additional locks and inflatable hangers. Yes, I said inflatable hangers. Seemed like a good idea when putting them into the shopping cart but upon their arrival we decided they are actually quite big and heavy and not worth shlepping.

Anyway, for those curious how we're packing for these 11 countries over 3 months the current packing list includes:

1 pair of hiking shoes
1 pair of hiking closed-toe sandales
1 pair of rubber flip flops
1 pair of Jeans (lightweight Gap jeans)
1 pair of yoga pants
1 pair of travel pants
1 pair of yoga capris
1 pair of shorts
4 tee shirts
3 tank tops
1 button down 3/4 sleeve
1 pair of PJs (althetic shorts for dual purposes)
2 long sleeved shirts
1 half-zip long sleeved pullover
1 sarong
1 North Face fleece (still debating this)
6 pairs of socks
6 pairs of Ex-Officio quick-dry undies
2 bras (one sports, one regular)
1 eye mask/earplugs
1 inflatable neck pillow
1 quick dry travel towel
1 sleep sack
1 headlamp
1 travel alarm
1 pair thin gloves
1 knit hat
1 sun hat
1 rain jacket
1 travel umbrella
1 earbuds and ipod
1 Kindle
1 digital camera
1 ziploc bag with mediciations
1 toiletry bag (bar shampoo and bar lotion)
1 toiletry bag (liquids)
Sanitizer wipes
Point To It Pocket Book
change purse
30% Deet bug stuff
2 guide books
Extra ziploc baggies
Band-aides and alcohol wipes for emergencies

I'm including pictures so you can see everything all laid out and then it all has to fit into my bags - let alone anything I want to acquire along the way! This is definitely one of the hardest parts of this trip so far and I have a feeling I'm going to be leaving quite a bit along the way!

Dave's packing list is similar although he has a lot less clothing overall and has all the chargers, electronic items and games. He also gets the odds and ends like the clothesline, drain stopper and the new multi-purpose tool with scissors and other fun gadgets. We'll each take one of the guidebooks as they are heavy, but whomever wins the Japan guide gets to ditch it after the first 2 weeks so we'll see...

More to come when we actually start the trip - 16 days away!

Orvis sells undies that says they will last 7 days. You have to carry ALL of that? You are a brave soul.
