One year of planning and we were finally ready to depart.  Although the original plan of going to multiple countries in South America did not materialize because of the move to Philly, it was quite exciting to go to Peru.  We used miles (30k a piece) to fly round trip to Lima on American Airlines.  Worried about a hurricane we decided to fly to Miami a day early so there was no concern of missing our connecting flight.

We arrived at PHL and everything seemed to be going smoothly.  No problems carrying on our backpacks and daypacks (which we borrowed from my brother and JB, thanks guys), and flight was on time ready to go.  Plane boarded and we were on our way to the runway when the captain announced the inclement weather near D.C.  Turns out we were 50th in line to take off.  Not a huge deal as we had no plans in Miami for the evening.

The plane landed in MIA around 11p.m. and we headed to Alamo to pick up the rental car.  I love how everyone in Miami assumes I know Spanish.  The agent spoke exclusively in Spanish to me.  Luckily Amy was there to translate.  I knew I would have to speak a little Spanish in Peru, but wasnt expecting for it to start in my own country.

After we got the car, we checked into the hotel at the airport.  The hotel was under construction, so their restaurant was closed for renovations.  It was 12:40 at the time and room service ends at 1:00.  So we quickly went upstairs to order dinner.  Enjoyed our dinner while watching Ice Age.  Then went to bed.
