Well things are never as planed when traveling. The latest for me is the losing of my passport. We were scheduled to leave Flores Guatemala on sat the 16th at 9:30pm on a night bus to Guatemala City aka Guate, but in the bus station i had a feeling i should check for my passport sure enough it was missing so we were able to get the bus tickets changed to open for 30 days. I believe it was ¨involuntarily removed¨ from my stuff while swimming earlier that day, the last i remember seeing it. Anyway it is really gone nothing other than that missing except both tourist cards for mex and Guatemala. so i looked the next day on the beach no luck long story short i left for Guate on Monday night deciding not to rush things at this point.  Arrived in Guate at 7:30am Tues and went to the last place i want to go while on vacation the US embassy and filed for a new passport. That went very smooth and i should have a new one in 5-7 days. We had a chance to see more of Flores which was good i left with a better impression than i would have, it takes more than 2 days to get in and find the good deals and food!! After dealing with the govt. i hopped a chicken bus to Lake Atitlan. A chicken bus is what you might imagine the old ford school buses that you throw your stuff on top painted with a lot of pride in all sorts of colors and chrome, what the locals use it was $2.50us for a 4hr ride way up into the highlands of south west Guatemala and down into the ex giant volcano turned lake surrounded with three other volcanoes. more from there. Take care, love Davis
