This is going to be a short one folks.

We slept in.  Got up and headed to McDonald's a block a way for breakfast on the way to the National Air and Space Museum.  It's only 2 blocks from our hotel, but we had to walk 6 blocks to get there...chalk that up to not knowing exactly where we were in the city.  We discovered that later!

The museum opens at 10:00 and we were there at 10:15.  We went into the Museum and immediately noticed all the airplanes, and rockets overhead. Extremely impressive.  We got on a 10:30 tour and the gentleman was an average tour guide at best.  Being a former tour guide, I just hate it when people go into too much detail on a tour.  Keep it short, and sweet and interesting for all ages.  We left the tour to explore on our own about a half hour later.

They do have some neat stuff there:

A moon rock you can touch, Apollo 11 Command Module, Skylab, and some great exhibits.  Kevin seemed to like the "Explore the Universe," and Early Flight, The Golden Age of Flight, etc.  And we saw two in the iMax (To Fly) and one in the Planetarium.  Both, very well done.

We headed home about 3:30 and after resting headed to a Mexican restaurant called Lauriol Plaza.  Excellent suggestion.  On our cab ride home we got detoured because of some disturbance en route.  Our cab driver said it happens all the time.

Hotel and while I blogged, Sandy and Kevin read.  Gotta keep him reading!!!

Tomorrow, the Bureau of Engraving and Printing and maybe the Holocaust Museum.

Have a good one!  Told you this would be short and sweet!!!

Thanks for keeping us up to speed with your activities. If you really want to explore aviation take the time to go to the Air & Space Annex at Dulles. it is a wonderful museum. It is a haul out there, but well worth the trip.
