Where I stayed
Wigwam Resort, Litchfield, AZ
I called the front desk and they came can got me at 10:00 am for a 10:30 tee time on the Red Course at Wigwam. Got there and checked in, momentarily panicking when I couldn't find my SF Bank Visa Card. I had left it at Reds (the place we ate dinner last night and Security had it.)...Whew!
Headed to the Red course which was a loooong golf cart ride away. Met the starter and a guy who was going to play with me (Vince). Then, two other guys drove up and joined us. All of a sudden we had a foursome. It was two guys from Chicago, Rick and Jim who were out here visiting Jim's parents and Vince, who was from Canada, visiting his son who was here for a class. I first thought Vince was Hispanic, but when he told me he was from six hours north of Vancouver, British Columbia, I realized he was of Eskimo heritage. Nice guys. Decent golfers. I had a good day with 6 pars in a row, but some stumbles coming down the home stretch, shooting an 86. But a good time was had by all.
I later met Rick and Jim in the bar for a drink. Nice folks.
I headed back to the hotel, and cleaned up my blog before publishing it, and waited for Skip to return.
When Skip got back, we headed to the outside bar where all the Fantasy Campers and White Sox gathered for drinks, stories, and lies!!! We sat first with two owners of the White Sox (not Jerry Rhinesdorf), and later with Kittle and Rich Dotson. I LOVED listening to Dotson. He had, and still has a passion for the game. He was out of the game for 12 years and came back because he loved it so much. He mentioned the movie, Field of Dreams...he said, "You remember when Kevin Costner says "I love the smell of the leather when I put my face in the glove." Dotson, said, I loved that smell. This man LOVES the game!
Same routine. Skip to the hot tub and me to my blog. Probably publish two tomorrow. Playing golf with my Uncle Johnny tomorrow. Looking forward to it!
