Pisa is a city that is famous for an architectural catastrophe, but gladly has more to it than just a leaning tower. But not that much more really, especially when compared with Rome, which was our previous stop on this trip.
In fact, Pisa is our ultimate destination, not allowing Coventry to be counted as a destination, so we ended the trip in style by spending time eating, drinking excellent wines (sadly the Novello wines aren't ready until November 6th), and going shopping. The biggest purchase was a diamond ring, not for me, and had I been more romantic then I would have proposed to Sarah at the top of the Leaning Tower of Pisa, but it was €15 each to go in, and we had to wait for 2 hours for the next available tour, so we sacked it off. All this Romantic Rome thing must have got to me..... We did take the cheaper option and pay to get into the huge Cathedral though. If you have any questions about the ring/ bling then you are presumably female, so please direct them to Sarah, and not to me as I'm not the one who is best placed to answer. I think that after 12 and a half years together it's about time I did something about it.
As a treat at the end of the holiday we even stayed at a hotel. And not only a hotel, but one that had been assigned stars - two of them, which meant we had sheets changed every day by a maid that was paid to perform that task, and we got shower gel in little sachets and towels to use. Believe you me, that is something of a novelty for us. But, give me a tent over that kind of service any day!!!

Re: in the words of cliff congratulation
Well, she has taken her time - and we've waited until our 13th year together to do it. That's a nice, lucky omen!!
