Pink is the new brown. You heard it here first, folks. Everyone will soon be shunning bronzing creams and will be heading off to sunny climes without suncream for a day or two to make ourselves a colour that is halfway between suckling pig and cooked lobster. I am ahead of the game, as usual and already possess this wonderful colour that everyone else at the beach yesterday would undoubtedly be jealous of.

We are spending a few days on the island of Korcula on the Dalmatian coast, although the dogs we have spotted aren't spotted. We did meet a boxer with cataracts though. When I say 'meet' I mean we exchanged pleasantries and gave her some food, and in return she dribbled all over Sarah's leg, which I considered to be a fair swap. The old town juts out from the island just 2.5kms from mainland Croatia and it has really improved our impression of the country, which wasn't great until we got here. The old town is allegedly the birthplace of Marco Polo, who travelled more than we did and probably is slightly more famous too, having a sport involving horses, sticks and a ball named in his honour, as well as a mint with a hole in it. it is encased in a thick wall, with narrow alleyways filled with restaurants, art galleries and tourist shops, however I doubt these were the original plans when they were constructed in the 13th century.

For the first time we also went to a sandy beach, with crystal clear water and shallow waters, which meant I could paddle around in without getting in too deep and getting too scared. A Great White was spotted in the area a couple of months ago too, but we can't confirm the sighting. We did see a couple of dolphins though, jumping about and posing as they tend to do. Real exhibitionists, those ones, but the sight of them caused a German tourist sat 2 rows in front of us to emit a yelp the kind of which I had never heard before. Then she did it again. And again until they were safely out of sight. Not sure why.... it all sounds a bit fishy to me.

Mr Broom.... have you had a few too many Thwaite's Bombers????

Darren,
No wonder the boxer dribbled over Sarah.
Could have been easy to box with cateracts - she
must have lost all of her fights.
