The most picturesque port you can imagine, allegedly. Not in a thunderstorm it isn't. A little venetian, in that there were lots of blinds, but no deafs - actually, there were two.
I'm making the place sound bad - it was actually very pretty, although a tourist trap, for the 2 hours that we had some sun. We stayed at a small guesthouse right on a point that, erm...., points out into the Adriatic Sea not far from Venice. This explains the Italian influence and the number of poseurs that were walking around. There was also a regatta taking place, so we fit right in with all these types, as you can imagine. Everything was overpriced and service was surly, so we didn't tip. This went down really well, about as well as the meagre portions they served us did. Still, hot dogs were on special offer at the supermarket so we made full use of that promotion. If you do the same then the Slovene sausage ones do repeat a little, and are very garlicky. Or maybe just go there on a day trip and take a packed lunch. Make sure you include some fruit.
