Show trip route
On Thursday, we visited London again. We visited great-grandma Bagwell. We had to walk for 2 full hours in order to get there (there was no tube station near by) and stayed for 2 hours. She enjoyed the company very much, and loved looking at the old photographs with us. Afterwards, we hopped on a subway and went to Piccadilly Circus (spelled wrong?) and wandered around the busy London streets there. We bumped into a familiar face, Samuel L. Jackson. (you know, that guy in Die Hard 2?) There was a movie premier, for Miami Vice. We saw about 100 paparizzi there snapping photos like crazy, and as they walked out, we had a laugh flashing our camera at them and saying "How do you like it??" After that, we had dinner in a lovely Italian restaurant, where we paid extra to share a 14 inch pizza
Friday, Julie, Chris, and Rachel picked us up in Uckfield to take us shopping in Tunbridge Wells. We both impulsively bought a pair of 90 dollar shoes. (AAAAAHHHH!)They are called Birkenstocks, and are supposedly good for your feet. Anyway, we got some lunch and went back to Julie and Chris's new house. It is very big for a house in England, and is surrounded by the forest. They are so proud of it. We watched a movie about the english game "bowls" (again spelling?). It is actually a cool sport!
Saturday, we went for tea and scones with Julie and Chris. Rachel had a great time making a mess of the table, floor, and her face. We then moved on to cousin Roberts house, where we all hopped in the car and went to the local pub. They had a fantastic deal- buy any meal and get one free! So we all ate to our hearts content, and moved on to Worthing. Worthing is right on the coast, and there happened to be a big street festival that night. So we looked at all the little tent vendors along the beach for a while. Julie, Robert, and Dayne were feeling particularly adventurous, so they all hopped on a wild carnival ride that flips you way up in the air and in every direction
Sunday, we went to a pub for lunch with Robert and his friend Jamie, and explored the Worthing festival some more. We saw a huge car show there- only 2 corvettes in the whole place! It was very cool. We then hopped a train back to Kim's place, where we ate the biggest dinner of our lives- pesto pasta, steak, sauteed mushrooms, brandy (the good kind), and some cake and ice cream. We both had to undo our top button after that one. We did laundry (dont get used to it though) and went off to bed.
Monday we departed at 12:18 for the train station. We missed our 12:34 train by about a minute. So, we got to spend another hour in Uckfield at the local McDonalds. Once we did catch a train, we began an interesting journey to the East Croydon station, then to the London Bridge station, then to the underground, where we went to close to a dozen stops to get to Paddington (almost missed the train AGAIN)straight to the town of Totnes. We did soduku puzzles the whole way there (thanks to mom kleven). David picked us up here and took us to his place in Devon.
Today- we had croussants for breakfast, and headed out to the local beach. You would not believe the sights there, cliffs, waves, sand, it was unbelievable. David told us that he has been all over the world, lived in Africa, and this is his favorite place out of all of them. After this, we went to Dartmouth. This is a nice port town. We met Lindy and Becca here for lunch, at a very posh resturant
So, our plans for this week so far are (roughly)
Davids until thursday, where we travel back to Worthing for Ryan's 18th birthday with Robert.
Friday back at Kim's (youll get pictures then)
Saturday to Cambridge with Juliet and Ross
Sunday London, one last time
Monday AMERICA!!! :-(
