Surprise! We woke up at 5:15 AM, and began a long drive into what seemed like nowhere. After about an hour and a half, we saw the white cliffs of dover, and were asked for our passports. We boarded a large ferry, and departed for the French coast. It was very large, and had a few shopping places, restaurants, etc. On the ship, we had to exchange some of our pounds for Euros. Great, another new currency to learn. After a nice breakfast, we got back to our vehicle, docked, and drove off the boat into France.

Shortly in, we stopped at a Stop and Shop. This place sold two items- cigarettes, and alcohol. Thats it! They probably had 100 different types of tobacco! Not like the stop and shops at home!! They had a machine out front, but it did not vend soda cans, it only contained beer. A beer machine!

After that stop, and an attack by French "sand flies", we drove straight to Belgium, and ended up in the town of Bruge, also known as the "venice" of Belgium (because of its waterways). It was like nothing we had ever seen before. Cobble streets, old buildings, Foreign language (dutch), and lots and lots of bicycles. There were lot of chocolate shops (its famous for chocolate!!!) and clothes stores. Ashley enjoyed the belgian designer shops, as the clothes come with assurance that nobody in America will ever have the same shirt as her.

We stopped for a bit of lunch at a nice cafe, and took a ride around the city in a buggy pulled by a horse. We saw many beautiful sights, some of which we will share with you in our pictures. We attended a symphony in a 9th century chapel. What a work of art! There was the body of a pope in there, stained glass, and many old artworks. The bricks of the building were hand-chiseled out of flint, and added a unique style to it. The excellent acoustics and the music seemed to pull us back a few hundred years.

We got some chocolates, and a spot of tea in an old convent, and were off again, on our way home. The ride through windy english roads was not too good on our stomachs. But we held down our tea all the way back.

P.S. We put up like 10 pictures tonight but its late so we will put up more later!
P.P.S. We also jsut made a real entry about London, and put up more pictures. So check the entry before this. Cheerio!
