Decided against driving as we both wanted to relax and enjoy the scenery so we booked a coach/boat tour of Milford Road and the Sound.  Day started at 9.30am which made Dawn very happy as she got a lie in - first time since we started!  The coach was glass roofed as well as having big panoramic windows to the sides and the seats were tilted so if you were in the outside seat you still had good views.  Keith our Real Journeys coach driver was very well informed and although he gave a good commentary he didn't continually speak and drive us mad with the sound of his voice.  We had photo opportunity stops at Mirror Lake, Knobs Flat and The Chasm,  we would have liked to stop at the Homer Tunnel but as it was in a high risk avalanche area we were not able to.

The boat trip on Milford Sound was amazing - there were only a handful of people so everyone had a great view - the mountain tops were under cloud most of the time which was a bit unfortunate but everything else was still spectacular - we even saw some fur seals sitting on the rocks.  The lunch they provided was nice and there was tea, coffee and soft drinks available at all times.  We thought it was an excellent way to "do" the Milford Road and Milford Sound.  The trip got a little cold heading out into the Tasman Sea and we were glad of our hats and coats, we had carried them half way round the world and this was the first time we really needed them.

Queenstown tomorrow.

The images of the snow capped mountains and the waterfall is breathtaking picturesque it must be amazing to just lose your thoughts within the scenic views.

So funny to read the comment about your quick escape from Gemstone Beach, I must do my research on "Maouri Batch”.

I'm ooking forward to reading your next adventure from Queenstown.
