Flight from Melbourne uneventful arrived at Cairns at lunch time - weather absolutely fantastic 25c and sunny.  Melbourne was nice weatherwise in that the sun shone and it wasn't what you would call cold but Cairns is much better.

Straight off the plane and into the hire car for a drive up the coast - the difference between Melbourne and Cairns is very marked, Cairns streets are lined with palm trees and beautiful sandy beaches cover the coastline.  We stopped at Hartleys Crocodile Adventure park and had a brilliant time watching the crocks get fed and try to eat their keepers.  We also fed Cassowarys and petted Koala's - Dawn was in her element and wanted to keep all the Koala's - so I let her bring one home.  This evening we are off to explore the town - tommorrow the Great Barrier Reef.
