Arrived at Changi Airport after what seemed to be a forever flight (13 hours) although the last 7 hours did go quite quickly. Met nice Aussie on the flight (well nice for us but probably not for him he was sat next to us). Dave the Tour Guide (Dawns cousin) met us at the airport and gave us the grand tour. Visited a food hall and had a very wierd carrot cake which was the Singapore version of a potato omelette alongside lots of other goodies including duck noodles, chicken and pork rice and beef pasta, all of which was absolutely delicious. So far what we have seen in Singapore shows it is an incredibly diverse city with colonial old sitting next to technological new. The Singapore Slings in Raffles Long Bar were very nice but at S$52 (£26) were possibly the most expensive drinks we will buy and were accompanied by peanuts not just on the tables but also covering the floor as it seemed to be the custom to throw the shells on the floor after eating the nuts - very strange... It is now 3:25pm and we have checked into the Marina Bay Sands resort and are about to hit the infinity pool - we have had a walk around the sky park and the views are stunning and the pool very inviting - thought we would update our blog now as later we will be hitting the town with Dave and Michelle. 24 hours so far with very little sleep but there will be time enough for that on the flight to Melbourne tomorrow night.
