Boy were we knackered when we arrived in Ascunsion so sleepily jumped on a bus into the centre and in my half asleep state managed to find us the noisiest room in the world! The bed might as well have been in the middle of the road! Hee Hee! Anyway we were so tired, we still managed to catch a couple of hours sleep and then hit the city to start having a nosy!
The city is full of colourful buildings...pink being the most prominent with the pink palace (just for Domini!)..and the whole place had more of a hectic feel to it than Argentina & Chile with street vendors again and definitely a step down in terms of overall wealth. We saw lots more rundown areas, buildings and beggars which had all but disappeared (or were well hidden) in most of the towns in Chile & Argentina! We always find though that this makes the atmosphere even better and the people were unbelievably friendly to match!
We had a lovely day wandering around soaking up the sites and decided to move onto Encarnacion in Southern Paraguay the next day to go and see some Jesuit ruins!
