Up early doors, we found a rather executive double decker bus to get us to Lima..and we managed to blag the best seats in the house right at the front on the top deck so had amazing views all the way there! The scenery changed quite dramatically through the journey from endless mountains, rocky valleys with chillis drying by the side of the road and finished off in the desert which was to be the coastline for the remainder of the journey to one point it felt like we were just driving along one big sand dune with cliffs to match dropping down into the sea below! My guts had perfect timing again when the driver proudly pronounced that the toilet on the bus was for 'pee pee' not 'poo poo'! When you've got to go!!! Quite amusing as well to realise half way through the journey that the bizarre monkey sounding noises we kept hearing were actually coming from a monkey sat on this chaps shoulder! Random??? And for those of you who may have aspirations of bus travel in Peru, get ready for the vitamin sellers who ask for 5 minutes of your time (what choice do you have on a long distance bus!) and 2 hours later, they are still convincing you of the merits of various life changing drugs! We were kind of hoping that the monkey might take a fancy to his ears!!!!

We eventually arrived in Lima abit later than we'd envisaged and jumped warily into a cab (all the guide books get you super paranoid about taxi drivers in Lima although we're pleased to report we had no problems!!!) and headed to the suburb of Miraflores and the Flying Dog Backpackers where we'd booked to stay in anticipation of the arrival of Mr W! After a quick explore and a bite to eat, we crashed and burned...or tried to! The room we had adjoined another one with a metre gap at the top which meant you could hear literally every word! Don't think any male would have complained at this point as a Dutch girl was quite happily telling 2 American blokes (both obviously sat at the edge of their seats with cushions strategically placed!) that she used to be a lesbian and going into all sorts of details!!!! Even better...when a second Dutch girl arrived abit later and you could just imagine what was going through their minds!!!! (Now I'm married I'm allowed to say these things!!! Hee Hee!)

Anyway, swiftly moving on...the next morning the search began for a pub to watch the Lions game when Dave arrived the next day! The only problem being that it was being played at 2 in the morning so we needed to convince a pub to tape it and replay it! After numerous dead-ends and an Irish bar where no-one spoke English (?), we eventually found a sports bar who would apparently be playing the replay at midday the next day...due to popular demand...hmmmm...we'll see! Back to the hostel and after some creative sign-making by Paul, we hit the sack ready for our early morning meet & greet at the airport...
