Back on the plane again and many more films & glasses of Chilean wine later (well..you've got to try the local produce!), we both woke up to amazing views of the snow-capped Andes as we approached Santiago! Infact, as an airport it has one of the most amazing backdrops in the world! WOW...this was to be the scenery in South America!!!!

We arrived on time (around lunchtime) and jumped on a bus into town...what a contrast even driving from the airport! And bizarre to be doing our own travelling again after a month in Oz being pampered abit really! Excellent though! We ended up wandering around for ages trying to find a hostel (we were using the Footprint guide and having being used to the Lonely Planet for 6 months, we kept getting v confused and the maps are really complicated...or maybe it was just the jet lag!) We eventually found a place which ended up being one of our most expensive options yet and it wasn't that nice and basically went straight to sleep! Me at 4 which was a really BAD idea and Paul managed to stay awake until 9! Bearing in mind we'd gone from being 9 hours plus GMT to 5 hours behind...head mess! Anyway, I ended up sleeping for 17 hours! OUCH!!! Woke up very dead and very late so got up, got some food and bezzed back to the airport to catch our flight to Quito!!!
