Our first impressions of Kuala Lumpar were big, modern, clean, green, hot with funky buildings and fountains! Profound eh??? Reckon we should write a guide book! We got adopted once again by a man with orange hair to match his orange T-Shirt who very kindly took us to Wheelers Guesthouse in the heart of Chinatown! The great thing about KL is how close everything is - you can easily walk between the major sights and if you get too hot (which takes about 2 mins), they have a fantastic public transport system made up of the Star LRT, a mono-rail and buses of course! We spent the day doing the sights and loved the views from the park at the National Monument (great views of the KL and Petronas Towers), the Lake Gardens (where I thought Roti Ikan was a breakfast dish - it turned out to be fish food!!!!!) which is a little haven in the city centre, Merdeka Square (it's got a random cricket pitch in the middle plus the world's tallest flagpole and a vintage car show!), the National Mosque (where everyone looked to be sleeping rather than praying!) and finally the business district itself and the spectacular KL Tower and Petronas Towers!

We timed it just right was well as they were doing a speed demo of an F1 car for the up and coming Malaysian Grand prix. Lots of people and all very exciting - we clambered up on a wall and managed to see or at least hear most of what was going on! What a sound - major power! Rahhhhh! Paul was a rebel and managed to get through security and see the car close up so we should be able to upload some shots!!! The heavens opened while all this was happening so we headed for one of the huge shopping centres and I swear we could have been in Meadowhall or the Trafford Centre - all the shops were the same, even Zara! In an weak moment, I succombed to the temptation of a good latte and went and sat in Starbucks to wait for the rain stop! It was heaven! Sorry!

We had a nice chilled out evening and an early night as we had an early start the next morning! Our first flight since our adventure began in Bangkok...to Borneo!!!!!!!
