Our first impression going into Bangkok was just how big it really is! Having visited quite a few other capitals now, it's just huge and there are so many cars compared to everywhere else in Asia! It felt like we were coming back to a completely different city to the one we first landed in nearly 3 months ago - we arrived at about 22:00 and got dropped just by the Khao San Road - our adopted friend Kasper made it his personal mission to find us a guesthouse and then take us on a whirlwind food and drink stop - eating great pad thai from the street vendors washed down with quite a few beer changs! We ended up going to bed at about 4:30 in the morning rather wobbly and getting up extremely late the next day!!!! We spent the rest of the day vegging and watched the thais doing their nightly exercise routine in a park by the Chao Praya river! Highly amusing when one westerner with absolutely zero coordination decided to give it a whirl!
We spent one day taking in the sites that we didn't manage to fit in on our first visit which also involved the only scam which didn't cost us anything!!!! We basically got a tuk-tuk who was getting his commission from a tailors who had a "special one day sale" - we literally walked in and out which didn't go down too well with our driver who at the temple promptly scarpered! Paul wants me to add at this point that he knew it was a scam from the word go! Oh isn't he wise!
We spent quite alot of time eating in Bangkok it has to be said - on our last night we just snacked and snacked from all the street vendors and even managed to find a great kebab vendor! We were dirty stop outs once again and went to bed very late which made getting the bus very early in the morning not one of the best decisions we've made!!!!!.
