We had the BEST 3 days exploring the temples at Angkor Wat! If there's one place you've got to go to in Cambodia - this is it! It's truly amazing! Siem Reap itself is a nice little town as well and there are an unbelievable amount of hotels and guesthouses - we were actually organised for once and one of the guesthouses in Pnomh Penh recommended a place to us, we got picked up at the bus station and everything! We felt like royalty! Think we managed to time it right as well as we seemed to miss the crowds - we think this is because it was Tet and it was definitely getting busier on the last day!

We bought a 3 day pass for the temples and decided to spend 2 days cycling around the main sites and then spend the last day exploring the ones abit further afield! This worked great for us but it was SOOOOOOO hot and our feet were black at the end of the day from all the dust so if you go drink lots of water! (oh mum!) At the end of Day 2 we cycled back via what we thought was a shortcut - I thought the road was never going to end and there was no shade to be seen anywhere! I was so hot and flustered we had to have an emergency icecream session to aid the cooling down process! Mmmm!

We kept hearing everyone saying they were 'templed-out' (?????) but to be honest we didn't find that at all, each one is unique in its own way and often the scenery around it is beautiful as well! We had great fun climbing up some of the steps to the top of the temples, god knows how little people got on when the temples were actually used! One of the best ones was at Angkor Wat itself - there was a Korean tourist group watching us climb down, once I reached the bottom you could tell they'd been thinking 'Well if she can do it, we can do it!' and all of a sudden about 20 Koreans all started climbing up at the same time! Paul was still on his way down and it made very amusing viewing watching them all clambering past him!!!!

Won't go into too much detail on all the temples - hopefully the photos do them justice! Needless to say we've got about a million more for boring viewing when we get back!!!

On our last day we hired a remorque-moto which is a motorbike with a kind of carriage for 2 on the bike and started the day with sunrise at Angkor Wat but it was abit cloudy - BOOOO! We then spent the day zooming around seeing some of the sites further afield - all just as spectacular! The last one involved a very hot and sweaty trek up a hill (Phnom Krom) but the views from the top were stunning! And then a quick bez back to the main temple site where we finished our temple experience with a 10 minute balloon flight (just straight up and down) for sunset - as you can imagine the views were out of this world and it really put into perspective the size of the site! V Cool!

2 phrases that will always stay with us from Angkor Wat...
"You want soft drink?"
"You buy from me?". Angkor Wat
