We ended up spending about 3 days in Vientiane in the end - 2 days to start with exploring the city and then back literally Xmas Eve evening and Xmas day! It's a great city with great buildings and a great feel to it! Because of the French influence in Laos, there is even an 'arc de triomphe' called the Padaxai - not quite as nice as the Parisian version!
We had abit of a scare with the camera at one point - guess you don't realise how central it is to everything until it breaks! Flukily though overnight it decided to mend itself so we're back on track with our hundreds of photos! We've been looking into buying another camera as backup though just in case!
We hired bikes for the second day and its amazing how much ground you can cover! On the way back though my chain decided to fall off just as it was getting dark as well! This was when the Laos people redeemed themselves and 2 men came to our rescue equipped with toolkits to get us back on the go again! More on Vientiane after Phonsaven...
